Three season Copperhead’s outfielder, fourth year Ohio University outfielder & letterman and college senior Matt Stiffler is one of nine players to be named to the inaugural American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division I Gold Glove Team.

A native Bellbrook, Ohio, Stiffler was one of three outfielders selected to the prestigious team that honors defensive excellence.  He was joined by Winthrop's Tommy Lentz and Georgia's Jonathan Wyatt as recipients of Rawlings Gold Gloves in the outfield. Among the trio, Stiffler had the most assists and the second-most chances.  Matt has received numerous recognitions with Ohio University Baseball and as a Copperhead.

The remaining 6 Division 1 players to round out the team are:

P - Tyson Ross – a Sophomore, University of California

C – Tyler Weber, Junior, Wichita State University

1B – Darin Ruf, Sophomore, Creighton

2B – Mike Bionde, Senior, Rutgers University
SS – Sergio Miranda, Junior, Virginia Commonwealth University
3B – Dan Biedenharn, Senior, Wright State University

The partnership between Major League Baseball and Rawlings that has annually awarded Gold Gloves to professional baseball is celebrating its 50th anniversary.  In recognition of that fact, the tradition has been extended to the college game as well.

CONGRATULATIONS to Matt Stiffler on this remarkable achievement and recognition!
