The Copperheads operate in a manner consistent with the finest professional sports franchises, albeit on a scaled-down basis.

Since its inception in 2001, the Copperheads have enjoyed a strong relationship with Ohio University’s Center for Sports Administration graduate degree program – an obvious good fit.  Each year since, new alliances have been developed to where we now work with students in the Sports Sciences, Consumer Sciences, Athletic Training, The Sales Centre, Marketing Department, School of Accountancy, Management Information Systems Department and the School of Journalism.  Additional relationships have been recently developed with the School of Media Arts and Studies (formerly the School of Telecommunications), School of Theater, School of Visual Communication and the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Working with the above departments, schools and colleges, the Copperheads routinely accommodate graduate assistantships, internships, practica, and independent study from Ohio University undergraduate and graduate students.  Community volunteers are also encouraged.  We also welcome the participation of students from other institutions and can provide the quality guidance that any program might require.

Various staff groups work year-round to plan and execute.  Creativity is encouraged and many who have ideas are often asked to also implement them under the watchful eye of experienced professionals.

Experiential opportunities exist in nearly every area of our organization including:

·   Sponsorship Sales & Client Relations

·   Season Ticket Sales, Group Ticket Sales and Ticket Operations

·   Marketing, Promotion, Public Relations and Community Outreach

·   Media Relations, Publicity, Graphic Design & Print Materials Production, Statistics, Photography, Broadcast & Print Coverage and Website Operations

·   Facility Management, Game Day Operations, Team Equipment Management

·   Concessions Operations and Merchandise Sales

·   Teams Needs Liaison (local housing, food, away games transportation & accommodations and player employment)
