The Copperhead’s Board of
Directors announced the appointment of Shawnee State University Head Baseball
Coach Ted Tom as Head Coach for their 2008 season.
Coach
Tom was an outfielder for Shawnee
State (2001–2004) and was
a red-shirt member of the 2000 team that finished 5th in the NAIA World
Series. He was a career .283 hitter with 21 doubles and
52 RBI. He graduated with a
degree in Sport Management. Ted spent the following two seasons on the
coaching staff at Indiana University while also obtaining a Master’s Degree in
Athletic Administration. In 2006 he was named the outfield
instructor at the IMG Academy in Bradenton,
FL. While there, he also
served as an assistant coach at the Pendleton
School and head coach in
the Florida Collegiate Instructional League. A native of Lancaster (OH), Tom and his wife Lisa reside in Portsmouth, Ohio.
This is
not Coach Tom’s first head coaching job with a wooden bat summer collegiate
team, he was head coach of the Outer Banks Daredevils in the Coastal Plain
League during the summer of 2006.
