DELAWARE, OHIO -- 2007 Copperheads Pitching Coach Tyler Mott has been named interim head baseball coach at Ohio Wesleyan University.

In additional to his recent role with the Copperheads, Mott has served as pitching coach at Marietta College for the past three seasons where he helped the Pioneers win the 2006 NCAA Division III championship and make a return appearance in the Division III World Series in 2007.

Now Mott will coach the Battling Bishops for the 2008 season and replaces Tom Durant, who resigned to pursue other opportunities after guiding Ohio Wesleyan to a North Coast Athletic Conference championship and an NCAA Division III regional runner-up finish in 2007.

"It's a dream come true," Mott said.  "Ohio Wesleyan has been a special place for me since my freshman year in college.  I had a chance to coach at Marietta and learn a lot, and the timing worked out well.  I couldn't ask for a better situation.  Coach Ingles started a great tradition, and I'm honored to be able to carry it on."

"Tyler is going to be an outstanding head coach," Ingles said.  "He brings knowledge and history of our program, he was involved in a great program at Marietta, and hopefully he will be able to pick and choose things he liked and didn't like about each of those.  He is an outstanding pitching coach, he's a hard worker, and he'll do an excellent job."

Mott is a 2004 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan.  During his Battling Bishop playing career, he earned first-team All-America honors after batting .408 and compiling a 12-1 record in 2003.  He was a 4-time all-region selection and earned All-NCAC honors at pitcher, first base, third base and designated hitter.  He continued his education while at Marietta, earning a master of arts in liberal learning in 2006.  Mott is a native of Grove City, Ohio, and attended Grove City High School.
